VI Course on Financial Market Infrastructures Curso

Throughout the course, the following topics, among others, will be examined: payment instruments and means of payment; the principles applicable to financial market infrastructures; RTGS systems, fast payments, and electronic money; the role of central banks, regulatory bodies, and other authorities; the oversight and regulation of such infrastructures; central counterparties and clearing houses; correspondent banking and cross-border payments; decentralized systems based on DLT; credit, liquidity, operational, legal, and systemic risks; the functioning of a financial market infrastructure, drawing on the case of Colombia; the future of payment systems, including their challenges and opportunities; as well as the impact of artificial intelligence and technological advances on the financial market. 

The main objective of this course is to strengthen participants’ knowledge of the design, operation, regulation, and oversight of financial market infrastructures through the analysis of practical cases and the discussion of the most recent trends in the region. 

The course is aimed at technical professionals working in payment systems and financial market infrastructures at CEMLA member central banks.
